What Is The   (ULoMN)?

And what does it mean to NearTopia?

Going to the ULoMNs website will explain a lot of what they are and what it represents:

Basically it is like a United Nations organization for MicroNations.  It also sorts out those who simply post a website stating that their bedroom is it's own sovereign nation so they can pretend they are their own king over their subjects, (usually household pets or siblings), and those who are serious about having a government structure representing a collection of people who exercise their lives in an actual governmental body interacting with it's citizens.

The primary purpose of the ULoMN and what it means to NearTopia is about having a stable and structured international Trade with other MicroNations along with a stable and structured forum for MicroNation relations.

NearTopia and other MicroNations is an exercise in government outside of existing governments.  Being a member of the ULoMN is about exercising economics and trade relations outside of existing economics, which in itself completes all expected structure of any sovereign nation, making any MicroNation complete, in all duties and expectation for exercising all things a nation is expected to deal with.

Does it Cost to be part of the ULoMN?

Not for Citizens.

It costs us as NearTopians a negligible amount to be part of this organization. Basically Two NearTopian Bucks ($2-Bucks) per quarter (Three Months) and $0.25 U.S. per Quarter or 1$ U.S. per Year fee.

However for the NearTopia citizens it is absolutely free as the nations bears the cost and is the founders responsibility for financial upkeep of ULoMN membership.  The Dues is to help maintain the cost and structure of the ULoMN so that it will always be in existence as long as there are Nations as members. For NearTopia Citizens there is no cost.

Here's the rub:   This is for MicroNations only, and as such, we deal mostly with currency printed by the MicroNations themselves.  You basically have to be under the flag of a MicroNation (a citizen) to participate in the ULoMN international market.

Individuals themselves are not officially and legally recognized to interact with ULoMN international markets.  So you cannot just start printing money and jump in, you have to be a citizen of a MicroNation to be part of this structure.

Does this mean the Citizens of the MicroNations can buy things and sell things?

Yes: HOWEVER, this market only involves other MicroNations, so do not expect to make a million, or dodge tax codes of existing Nations, or figure you're going to buy an iphone with labor instead of cash.

This is designated to be the labor or products by the citizens of the MicroNations them selves.  So this is more like an artist market, as everything is built by the citizens or by the skill of the citizens and not by corporations or industries. So expected items are things as art work, crafting, individual skill items, and  labor such as building web pages to represent a narions commodity.

Currently the "Bakers" of the MicroNations are out of luck, as food items are not being traded on the ULoMN international markets due to lack of quality control issues.  Also alcohol violates other national laws so No food items and No liquids.

How does a NearTopian "Buck" fit into this?

NearTopia's international currency is called the Buck.  Currently the ULoMN international structure is $1 of a nations denomination is valued at 1/2 hour of basic labor, which also fits the NearTopia economic structure.

NearTopia's currency on the international market is Fiat in nature, meaning it is not backed by a commodity such as gold or silver.  NearTopia's internal structure however is a commodity currency backed by actual gold, however for any international trade it is Fiat as according to NearTopian law.

How do I charge and pay for market items?

By definition the charging rate For NearTopian citizens is $1 Buck for a 1/2 hour of basic labor.

Basic labor is anything that does not require a high school education (grade level 8 or under)

General labor is anything that requires an education between grade level of 9-12.

Skilled labor is anything that requires a collage education to do.

If you do not have a collage education and you are doing something, just because it is with a computer does not mean you are a skilled laborer, and the most you can charge for is General labor rates.

Basic is charged at $1buck/skin per half hour of work, General labor is charged at $2 bucks/skins per half hour, and Skilled Labor is charged at $3 bucks/skins (or more) per half hour, however for skilled labor YOU MUST agree for the pay rate prior to doing the work, the amount has to be agreed on from all parties involved with the trade prior to the trade taking place.

Half hour is minimum pay, and anything under 10 minutes is rounded down, anything 11 minutes or over is rounded up to a half hour. Example 40 minutes of work is considered 30 minutes of labor, 41 minutes is considered an hour. Be honest folks.

This is our internal and international structure of pay and value of the NearTopian skin.

How Do I get NearTopian Bucks? Do I print my own NearTopian Currency?

NearTopia has two currencies. The Skin (Citizen only use) and the Buck, international use.

NO! YOU DO NOT PRINT YOUR OWN NearTopian MONEY! EVER!

Doing so will get you banished from NearTopia permanently, loosing all stake and assets in NearTopia.

Getting NearTopia Bucks is pretty painless: Become a citizen of NearTopia, Get Registered on our national resource registry, what your talents are, then let us know how many hours your willing to do in hours and we ship you your allotted hours worth of Bucks to spend with other NearTopians and/or Nations participating with the ULoMN.  This then becomes part of our Gross National Production.  The total amount of NearTopian Bucks in circulation.
